Education is on the agenda in 2017.
The operations grant has been frozen. Schools use this grant to help keep their schools running — like property maintenance, teaching materials, or technology — as well as paying support staff wages. Support staff are the professionals who work with teachers to educate our kids, including teacher aides, librarians, administrative staff, and kaiarahi.
We say enough's enough: it's time to get serious about funding in education.
Support staff are the backbone of schools. Without teacher aides, admin staff, librarians, technicians, kaiarahi and many more roles, our schools just wouldn't function.
We're asking the Government to unfreeze the operations grant so that these professionals can get on with this important work.
We're taking the Better Funding message on an amazing five-month tour all over New Zealand, from Kaitaia to Bluff. See when the tour's coming to you, and get involved!
